The Patient Access Coordinator makes patient appointments and reminder calls. Greets and registers all patients. Verifies demographic and insurance coverage information and enters into appropriate system/patient record. Collects co-pays and other payments and prepares daily deposit & reconciliation report. Receives and accurately relays all phone messages to and from providers then logs them appropriately. Also provides clerical/secretarial support to the office as needed by typing correspondence and reports, sorting and delivering mail, processing incoming and outgoing faxes and ordering and maintaining supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Makes patient appointments according to provider schedule protocol.
  • Makes patient appointment reminder calls and reschedules patients as needed.
  • Greets and registers or checks in all patients who arrive at the practice or clinic. Verifies demographic information and enters it into the patient record. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Verifies insurance coverage information and collects co-pays or other payments.
  • Prepares daily cash reconciliation and prepares daily deposit and reconciliation report.
  • Receives and relays messages between providers and patients and logs them accurately according to practice protocol in the proper messaging record system.
  • Provides other clerical support to the practice office including typing correspondence and reports, sorting and delivering mail, processing incoming and outgoing faxes and ordering and maintaining supplies.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Computer skills required. Medical terminology skills preferred
  • Prior medical office experience preferred.
