Overview:

Veeco Instruments is seeking a pioneering Director of AI & Data Strategy to shape the future of AI and data analytics at Veeco, driving operational excellence and innovation into our business. As the leader for AI at Veeco, you will propose and implement a strategic roadmap for leveraging AI and data analytics. You will foster AI capabilities across the organization, propelling Veeco towards improved data-driven decision-making and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Case Development: Identify, prioritize, and develop compelling use cases for generative AI within our business operations, focusing on areas with immediate proof-of-concept potential and high impact on innovation or efficiency.
  • Strategic AI Vision: Craft and implement Veeco's AI and data analytics strategy.
  • Data Infrastructure: Evaluate and lead the upgrade of our data systems to support AI initiatives.
  • AI Governance: Establish ethical guidelines and compliance standards for AI use.
  • Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with the Company's leadership to integrate AI solutions.
  • Community Engagement: Represent Veeco in industry forums and maintain knowledge of AI advancements.
  • Team Building: Spearhead the growth of Veeco's AI and Data operations team.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Big Data, Data Science, or an applicable field with a minimum of 10 years working in a related area is required. Advanced degree preferred. Up to 10% travel (mostly domestic US) is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in AI, machine learning, or data science, especially in generative AI. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing data or similar industrial datasets and their business uses is also preferred.
  • Expertise in AI tools, infrastructure, and platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to ethical AI use and governance.

We'll Expect You To:

  • Implement best practices, strategies, methodologies, and approaches to systems administration tasks and complex projects
  • Determine where the best early opportunities exist to leverage AI within Veeco. Partner with functional owners to implement solutions.
  • Speak your mind when you find opportunities for technology or process improvement.
  • Develop repeatable standards and implementation processes to ensure product uniformity and quality.
  • Document, deploy, and improve new and existing infrastructure to continually improve Veeco's end-user experience.
  • Work well in cross-team troubleshooting efforts.
  • Be comfortable saying, "I don't know."
  • Build your knowledge through Veeco-funded advanced training opportunities

The expected salary range for this position is $160,473 - $202,782 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
