As the Electrical Project Designer here's the work you'll do:
  • Create and edit plans and BIM models.
  • Perform TSS and other engineering calculations
  • Perform quantity take-offs and cost estimate preparation
  • Select equipment and create schedules, diagrams, and details; create and edit specifications and basis of design documents
  • Support construction phase contract administration activities such as submittal review, answering RFI's, etc.
  • Perform ITRs, travel for meetings and site investigations, cost estimates, and other tasks as required
  • Complying with data protection principles while handling personal, protected and / or Covered Defense Information on behalf of Day & Zimmermann. Data Handlers should be trained to follow documented policies, standard operating procedures and secure practices associated with protecting trusted employee and customer data.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Fully skilled (expert level) and able to train others in all aspects of TSS CAD/BIM modeling and production of plans using department production software (Revit and/or AutoCAD). Able to create and edit telecommunications and technical security systems plans and specifications and basis of design; Understands components needed for a complete system. Ability to design and layout a system (medium/large systems). Skilled and able to train others to complete TSS designs including equipment selection, camera and speaker placement, creating schedules, and designing controls.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70), Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (TDMM), and client design criteria (UFCs, OBO Design Standards, GSA)
  • Interpersonal savvy and willingness/ability to communicate effectively (oral and writing) with M&H team members as well as clients; able to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within company, and able to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department
  • May have primary development in a single discipline (technical security systems or telecommunications), and is expected to actively seek and develop competency across both disciplines. Position is responsible for coordination of work with other disciplines, to ensure design layout is constructible. If assigned as model manager, command of clash detection processes and tools is also required. Model managers are responsible for resolving issues identified in clash detection processes. Position may also support contract administration. It is preferred, but not required, for members at this level to be able to competently: edit specifications and basis of design documents; directly select equipment for projects; and directly perform project calculations (i.e. load calculations, etc.). May serve as model manager. Some travel may be required
  • Must build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success. Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed. Other duties as assigned.
  • Data privacy, information security and policy compliance
And if you have these qualifications:
  • High School or GED; Associate of Science degree (Computer Aided Drafting & Design, Electrical Engineering, EE Technology, or related field) preferred
  • 10 - 15 years experience
  • Computer Assisted Drafting or similar drafting certification preferred.
  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) preferred, LEED AP preferred.
  • US citizenship required; ability to obtain a TS security clearance required

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $76,080-$114,120 This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
