The nurse epidemiologist functions as a nurse leader to implement, manage, and coordinate the Infection Surveillance, Prevention, and Control program to meet The Joint Commission, national, state, and local health care requirements by reviewing, analyzing, and interpreting surveillance data.
In addition, the nurse epidemiologist provides technical assistance, statistical analysis, grant writing, research, and advocacy for all aspects of the Program, identifies priorities for disease transmission prevention, and develops initiatives to improve the health of patients.
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, DNP, or PhD preferred
Current RN Licensure or work permits in Kentucky
Minimum five years current nursing experience and critical care experience preferred
APIC or SHEA Training Course in Infection Prevention and Control (or equivalent) upon employment and attainment of certification as soon as eligibility criteria are met.
