Job Duties:

  • Manages and assesses patients on mechanical and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Educates patient and family on issues pertinent to their care on the ventilator.
  • Follows through on pertinent protocols.
  • Manages ventilators for neonatal/pediatrics and adults according to
  • Assesses the appropriateness of therapy and makes recommendations.
  • Performs, assesses, and instructs the effective administration of oxygen, aerosol medications, humidification, suctioning, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Patient/family education will also include the safe and effective use of equipment where applicable.
  • Performs effective airway management, supportive ventilation, and chest compressions during CPR.
  • Administers medications and assesses patient response.
  • Takes and records verbal orders for respiratory care procedures. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training and Licensures Required:

  • Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Must be licensed by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Kentucky and in accordance with the provisions of KRS chapter 314A.
  • Must maintain an active BLS.
