ABOUT THE POSITION

MULTIMODAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNER

VHB's growing Raleigh, NC team is looking for a Multimodal Planner to join us as an entry or junior-level planner. The selected candidate will support the development of multimodal safety plans and other multimodal plans. The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of traffic safety for all roadway users, transportation planning for pedestrians and bicyclists, and conducting data analysis.

Responsibilities

    Employ an increasing knowledge and experience in a variety of topics, such as using safety data, public health, and pedestrian and bicyclist transportation.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to conduct public engagement and develop solutions for all modes of transportation.
  • Support project managers and other planners in the development of reports, presentations and other deliverables.

Skills and Attributes

  • The ability to work independently and on multiple projects
  • Ability to apply data and statistics to safety and planning projects
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Eagerness to learn about best practices for multimodal safety and pedestrian/bicycle transportation
  • Enthusiasm about multimodal transportation and roadway safety
  • Understanding of national guidelines and best practices for multimodal design and pedestrian/bicycle countermeasure selection

Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of experience in transportation planning or traffic safety
  • 1-3 years of experience in in transportation planning or traffic safety preferred
  • Bachelors in Planning, Public Policy, Civil Engineering, Public Health or related field
  • Masters degree in Planning, Public Policy, Public Health or related field is preferred, but not required
