Charge Nurse, 2F Short-stay Unit

Unit Description:

2F is a 19 bed Observation telemetry unit specializes in short stay and fast turn around of surgery, cardiac, urology and gastric patients with a focus on ERAS protocols. This unit serves our Bariatric Center of Excellence patients. The patient population is transferred from ED and PACU.

Shift: Full-time, Days

Job Description:

Under the direction of Unit Director, Clinical House Supervisor, +/or Designee, provides supervision of workflow and staff for a designated shift in overseeing the efficient functioning of the department.

  • Assures the provision of patient care, by addressing performance, risk management, patient, family and physician issues/concerns as appropriate.
  • Role models caring behaviors in relationships with others.
  • The Charge Nurse is an exemplar for compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy honoring nursing as a distinct discipline and supporting an environment focused on healing and wellness.
  • As a clinical nurse, the charge nurse spends majority of his/her time (> 50%) coordinating, ensuring and providing direct patient care activities on the unit through: provision of nursing rounds, assessments and treatments; facilitating admission, transfer and discharge activities; provision of patient and family-centered education; care coordination and individualized treatment planning as applicable.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:

  • Active Kentucky RN license
  • BLS, ACLS and/or other designated unit specific certification training/requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or currently actively pursuing a BSN degree. (BSN degree must be completed within 5 years of starting program)
  • Minimum of one year of Registered Nurse experience.
