Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for individual credit portfolio servicing and management of assigned credits within the Business Loan Servicing Group's overall portfolio. Responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating required financial information pertaining to each individual type, size and complexity of credits assigned which includes gathering, analyzing, and reporting various credit metrics. Will assist Business Loan Portfolio Managers with credit transactions and overall portfolio tasks, including but not limited to, financial statement collection, financial results spreading, analyses, risk rating validation, annual reviews, and general credit underwriting, monitoring, and early stage collection efforts. Will be required to operate within the Bank's risk appetite while adhering to the Bank's Commercial Lending Policy and best practices. Analysts Will consistently and continually identify, assess, monitor, and report risks of all types and collaborate with team members to ensure implementation of strategies to mitigate that risk.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for analyzing and evaluating required financial information pertaining to each individual type, size and complexity of credits assigned which includes gathering, analyzing and reporting various credit metrics.
  • Review loan documents and monitor loan payment histories, past dues, loan collateral and inspections, monetary compliance/defaults.
  • Perform guarantor and business financial analyses, track and test covenant compliance, financial statement reporting and compliance, identify financial trends, assess and validate risk ratings.
  • Responsible for ordering and reviewing credit bureaus, background checks, and other third party reports as may be warranted.
  • Directly communicate with commercial borrowers regarding credit events and actions, including but not limited to, delinquency, required financial statement collection, covenant compliance, defaults, loan renewals, refinances, criticized asset reviews, annual or shelf reviews.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to management and assist management in monitoring and following-up on monthly reporting, including but not limited to, collateral or documentation exception, delinquency, financial statement, financial covenant tracking, borrowing base, and maturity reports.
  • Accountable for accuracy of risk ratings, identifying early warning signs of deteriorating loans and the timely escalation of defaults, potential issues, risks, or 'red flags' suggesting elevated loan or portfolio risk; collaborate in the devise of appropriate credit actions to mitigate said risk.
  • Assist Business Loan Portfolio Manager in defining borrowers and guarantors, deal structure, credit terms and conditions, financial reporting, covenant structure and prepare written credit memoranda to memorialize the same.
  • Collaborate with internal partners such as Commercial Documentation Preparation and Funding and Commercial Loan Operations to close approved transactions.
  • Record collection and or progress notes into the CARM PRO system
  • Partner with Commercial Collections on defaulted lines and troubled credits.
  • Focus on execution within defined credit lending policies and procedures.
  • Monitor market and industry specific segment trends, continuous learning to keep pace with ever-changing market dynamics.
  • Manage internal and external resources and deliver on our core values to support a high level of customer experience and reduce attrition while effectively controlling expenses.
  • Will perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Job Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Credit underwriting, financial and credit risk analytical skills and experience required.
  • Business credit, underwriting, or portfolio monitoring experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Small Business Administration loan programs and other federal, state, and municipal alternative lending programs preferred, but not required.
  • Working knowledge of the following:
    1. Business Lending (Retail, service, small commercial, manufacturing, construction, real estate, and small agricultural).
    2. Banking regulations
    3. Credit approval preparation and presentation.
    4. Loan documentation, ordering, assembly, review and execution.
    5. Collateral valuation, gathering/ordering and evaluation.
    6. Bank policy adherence and execution.
    7. Financial and risk analyses.
  • Must possess highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance/supervision but also be a team player to ensure departmental goals are achieved.
  • Strong business acumen, attention to detail with organizational and analytical skills, and well-honed written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with technology and ability to learn new applications.
  • Ability to travel to business sites or to company related activity as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Credit underwriting, financial and credit risk analytical skills and experience required.
