CRT/RRT - PRN

Dept: Respiratory Therapy

Third Shift: Part-Time

Respiratory therapists handle breathing or airway problems that can stem from a wide variety of conditions and events.

  • Provide Respiratory Care to newborn through geriatrics in generally predictable, although critical situations, under the supervision of the medical director.
  • Possesses a sound knowledge and an adequate proficiency in the skills of Respiratory Care and Electrodiagnostic practices, procedures, and techniques, as they pertain to newborn through geriatric patients.
  • Conducts physician prescribed treatments of a routine nature; operating Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPP) machine, various oxygen devices, nebulizer, or Metered Dose Inhaler to administer prescribed medications, gases and humidity and various oxygen concentrations to the respiratory system of the patient.
  • Performs chest physiotherapy treatments involving percussion, postural drainage, adjunct therapy and suctioning to loosen and mobilize secretions and mucus in the lungs. Performs arterial puncture; operates blood gas analyzer measuring and determining the acid base balance efficiencies of ventilation, and metabolism of the respiratory system.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a current and valid KBRC license.
  • Must Certified Respiratory therapist or eligible.
  • Must possess current and valid CPR card.
  • Must complete ACLS, PALS and NRP certification within the first year of employment.
