ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs direct patient care following an individualized plan of care, the plan of care includes assessment, intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment and re-evaluation of the patient. In the Pre-operative, Intra-operative and Post-operative environment.
Documents patient care given in Med-Host, Nextgen, and Exit Care (EMR systems).
Assess, monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assures all pre-operative requirements are met prior to transfer to the operating room.
Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Follows Infection Control and Safety Guidelines
Successful completion of Skills Competency Checklist
Monitors and maintains sterile technique in the operating room. Serves as a scrub nurse when needed, as appropriate.

Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
X Associate's degree Preferred
X Required Possession of a current RN License will prove education.
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline Preferred X Required
X Bachelor's degree X Preferred Required

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Ability to quickly learn how to navigate multiple complex software systems.
Must be able to communicate with the ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Must be able to successfully complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire
Certifications:
X Basic Life Support (BLS)
X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire
X Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Preferred
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Preferred
Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) Preferred
Licenses:
Current unrestricted State of Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact license.
Minimum Work Experience
Minimum one year experience in surgical services X Required
One year experience as a Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) X Preferred
